In 1998, Joseph Park had an idea: What if someone created an Internet-based delivery service in which, after you'd typed a few commands into a web page, you could have videos, snacks, books, or other small items delivered to your door in less than an hour? By January of 1999, Park and his friend and business partner, Yong Kang, had turned their idea into a business proposal for Kozmo.com, and by the end of that year, the company had managed to secure 150 million dollars in financing, with seemingly everyone on board poised to become fabulously wealthy. In April of 2000, the NASDAQ market crash tolled the end of the e-commerce boom, and it soon became evident to Kozmo.com's investors that the company was losing money like water through a sieve; within months, Park's dream was in ruins. E-Dreams is a documentary that examines the rise and fall of Kozmo.com, and by extension the failings and foibles of the Internet commerce explosion of the late '90s.

Nossiter's primary focus is on American vintners and their new degree of worldwide acceptance (in part due to the efforts of wildly influential U.S. wine critic Robert Parker), as well as French wine makers who are struggling to maintain a more traditional approach in the wake of a rapidly shifting business climate, such as Hubert de Montille and Yvonne Hegoburu. Nossiter deals with the personalities of his subjects as much as their status in the wine business, and he frequently introduces us to the pets of his interview subjects. Mondovino was screened in competition at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

As a huge Tool fan I cannot explain what it means to see Maynard do something that he likes in his own nature as he always has a strange veil of confusion around him. This doc is made totally to Maynard's style or the style that he wants us to see. Some scenes even made in classic Tool manor. Also there is a few words about his new project Puscifer and of course a lot of talk about wine. I enjoyed every minute of this doc and really made my day. This doc is a must have for every Tool, A Perfect Circle or Puscifer fan, but non the less for every other documentary lover.

Review:
Documentary on underage teen porn star Traci Lords who almost brought down an entire industry. This is the best doc about Traci Lords that I could find. It starts with Traci's background and then passes on how she ended up in the porn industry. Later on you can see a bunch of interviews with porn directors and porn stars remembering the good old times and their relationship with Traci. I don't want to say too much because I would definitely spoil it for you. Great doc, my recommendation.

The Z Channel wasn't America's first premium cable outlet specializing in feature films, and it wasn't the most commercially successful, but few, if any, had as strong an impact on the film industry or a more influential list of customers. Based in California and blanketing sections of the state dominated by the movie business, Z Channel had been operating for several years before former screenwriter Jerry Harvey took over as head of programming in 1980. Under the guidance of Harvey and his staff, the channel became a film buff's dream, screening rare classics, important foreign films, and maverick American titles that had fallen through the cracks of commercial distribution. Harvey and his staff also programmed original and uncut versions of films which had only played American theaters in altered form (including Heaven's Gate, Once Upon a Time in America, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and The Leopard) long before the concept of the "director's cut" had currency beyond the most hardcore of film fans. And The Z Channel aggressively championed pictures they believed were overlooked, and programmed deserving Oscar-nominated movies during the Academy's voting period, years before studios began distributing video "screeners" to potential voters. What is body modification? According to the definition employed by "Modify" directors Jason Gary and Greg Jacobson, it's liposuction, body-building, plastic surgery, tattooing, piercings, sexual redesignation and suspension -- the hanging of one's body on hooks. "Once you've done this," says one suspender, "the rest of your life is a piece of cake." A plastic surgeon suggests that even shaving, or combing your hair, is a manipulation of your body and therefore eligible for the category. Such a wide definition allows "Modify" to make parallels between the most benign and the most radical transformations. The film delves into the practices and philosophies of those who augment their bodies, be it for vanity or artistic vision.

This is the story of a little village in Thailand with a very dangerous tradition. In this strange little village, the world's most dangerous serpent, the King Cobra, has become both a pet and a business partner of a deadly cottage industry. The entire village-from elders to children-works as one and performs relentlessly at their temple to attract tourists and herb buyers. The main attraction is the boxing matches, man versus snake, one on one! Bites are commonplace, but unbelievably the village has no anti-serum to combat the deadly toxins and the nearest hospital is over an hour away by car. Tom Tavee, the filmmaker, was able to obtain incredible access into the lives of the fighters and has succeeded in accurately and dramatically documenting this dangerous performance-sport of snake-boxing, the art of theatrically antagonizing the largest venomous snakes in the world. Some of the boxers have been bitten dozens of times, but despite losing fingers and friends, the boxers love their snakes and their perilous profession.

This movie is not "Making Art for Dummies." This movie is more appropriately "Go Out and Make Some Art, You Dummy!" If you are a creative person, or you think that you may be a creative person, then you need to see this movie, and then you have to go and do something about it. This film is an inspiration to me, and will be an inspiration to anyone who struggles with the demon of creation. There are many cool people that I had heard of in the movie. Everyone in it, whether famous or yet to be famous, has something important to say to you, the viewer. It is an amazing message, and it should spark an outpouring of creativity and art in any and all who view it. I know that it did in me. Now I have to get back to making my own damn movie!

Rick Staton, a funeral director in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has started many serial killers painting; he was the exclusive dealer of America's most notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Staton's extensive collection includes art and artifacts from such notable serial killers as Charles Manson, Richard Ramirez and Henry Lee Lucas. Tobias Allen, also a collector, attained national exposure for creating a controversial serial killer board game, later banned in Canada. Together, Staton and Allen have curated several gallery shows of serial killer art work. COLLECTORS follows Staton and Allen on a road trip to Houston, Texas for the opening night of an art show by Elmer Wayne Henley, Houston's most notorious serial killer. In the early 1970's, Henley and partner in crime Dean Corll, carried out the sex murders of 27 children. Now serving multiple life sentences, Henley was encouraged to take up painting by Staton. Angela Christlieb and Stephen Kijak direct the documentary Cinemania, concerning five individual New Yorkers with self-styled movie obsessions that border on the psychotic. Living on disability is Eric Chadbourne, who is an obsessive collector as well as viewer; Harvey Schwartz, who has memorized countless amounts factual data like movie running times; and Roberta Hill, who is such an aggressive audience member that she has been kicked out of several theaters. Unemployed and living in denial, Bill Heidbreder is into European art films to a serious degree, while the somewhat self-aware Jack Angstreich lives off of an inheritance and claims to keep a schedule of watching five movies a day. The conclusion appropriately features the five subjects screening a rough cut of the documentary and offering their comments. Shot on digital video, Cinemania contains a cinema-themed soundtrack provided by witty French indie pop band Stereo Total.

Even the car batteries are used as power generators in order to get some light, watch TV and recharge mobiles! Almost an alchemist’s dream come true! But the police doesn’t always find these strange vehicles funny…
